this is one of most beautiful & witty projects i’ve ever come across: with watercolor & gouache, molly rausch presents her painted takes on the contexts of postage stamp scenes.  such a thoughtful & curious venture!  it was quite difficult to pick which to post here, as i’m in awe of every one.

Writing regularly to several people—a parent, a friend who’s moved to another coast, a daughter or son away at college—requires one to keep separate mental ledgers, storing up the weather or the idle thoughts or the disasters we need to pass on. We’re always getting ready to write. The letters out and back become a correspondence, and mysteriously take on a tone of their own: some rambly and comfortably boring; others cool and funny; some financial; some confessional. They stick in the mind and seem worth the trouble.

while i’m always championing minty blue, the hue i truly cherish is red.
…
& on another note:
for you los angeles locals, a new(ish) & very good reason to visit silver lake… R.A.G.E. (Really Awesome Great Experiments) has taken root in a former 99¢ market at 604 n. occidental (at bellevue avenue). it currently holds 8-1/2 x 11, an experiment involving all things flat or of paper, & there will be workshops & other community gatherings to look forward to! dear bruce has some behind-the-scenes peeks at how they papered the place, & the story about where that huge lightbox came from.

the card at front should perhaps be revised to read “just a little note from me to me.”

i love seeing how paper & type’s fill-in-the-blank series is filled out by other folks.  above, examples of little notes on display at myrtle.
thanks, whitney!

i’m happy to share that PAPER & TYPE stationery may now be found in a lovely shop called myrtle, located in echo park, los angeles!  the very kind whitney has curated a collection of goods by designers (hetterson, kyyote, fieldguided..) that i’ve only had a chance to eye from afar until now. she’s also designed & outfitted the shop in a most delicate & darling way (i could live in it).  P&T will be among good company over by that vintage typewriter.
do visit:2213 sunset boulevard, with a grand opening this saturday, december 10, 5–10pm.
